Oh, where to begin... This layout is created as one of three entries to Intoxicated Designs contest. Besides that, there's a whole chest of meanings associated with the design, the artwork and the pairing.
Design-wise, this is the 3rd attempt at creating a layout of this sort. Some of you might remember Captious Pedant's first layout which featured the village of Konoha. The second trial, featuring Ah! My Goddess did not get to see the light of day. Regardless, for details of the artwork, you may visit its archive on my sketchblog. Finally, if I were to go into why this pairing works for me, I'd be writing an twelve-page essay.
