Veve's Ramblings
Noone can disagree that this is an absolutely gorgeous illustration. While I was waiting for the threatres to let me in--The DaVinci Code was out--, I went around the corner to a bookstore. I was looking for the clearing items when my friend handed me The Witches and Wizards of Oberin. "We are the original magicians, the alchemists. We are teh witches and wizards who collaborate with the elements, the forces of nature, to conjure, to dazzle, to bewitch." No surprise, she must be a witch of the Earth. From $30 it was marked down to $4.99 and when I brought it to the cashier, I was informed that it was further reduced to 99 cents. Score! I look forward to turning these lovely pictures into layouts.
How does everyone like the pixel stretch? It's used to accent the design of the layout, rather than as a background for the text. Furthermore, notice how it goes in the direction of the text, that is, horizontally.
The problem with going for the maximum visual appeal of a design is that it presents complication with the coding that might ultimately compromise the usablity and functionality. I choose to foilage in the bottom left hand corner, therefore I must up the html/css-friendliness. I implemented a block of CSS curves to divert the text around the greenery so that the text is readable. But because of that, depending on your paragraph, the value of those CSS blocks may need to be edited. Open up 'style.css' and look for the curve#'s, the rest should be self-explanatory. This is a layout where I suggest you leave the credits alone so that there is one less thing to worry about.
Every spark starts a fire
Every rock makes a moutainer higher
And a raindrop helps the river to flow...
That is what is written on the bottom and layout is named after the title of this song, "The Power of One". It's a song I learned from choir a long time ago, but no longer do I have the music sheets nor can I find the origin online.
Graphics!
How long has it been since I last included graphics in a layout?
